GrayCat Labs makes instruments for music and photography from computational models of analog processes. We rebuild the mechanism behind a sound or an image — the circuit, the emulsion, the chemistry — and hand you the controls that actually shape it.

I.

The mechanism, not the look

Sound comes from oscillators, filters and amplifiers interacting. An image comes from light in an emulsion, development, dyes and print. Not a preset. Not a LUT laid over a finished picture.

II.

The controls that matter

You adjust what would change the result in a studio or a darkroom: warm-up and component tolerance, developer temperature and agitation.

III.

Every number has a source

Parameters carry their origin and confidence. Where the documentation is silent, the assumption is written down — never hidden.
